Homework your students open straight on the fretboard.
Create your classes, share a code, then assign exercises that open in the tool already set up: the scale, the key, the chart, the tempo. The teacher space is free, for you and for your students.
Group classes and one-to-one lessons
Create a class per group (Tuesday blues, the Saturday teens) or a one-to-one lesson that only one student can join. Every class gets a code like GH-7K2P and an invite link, and you can invite students by e-mail. If a code has spread too far, generate a new one in a click; at the end of the year, archive the class.
30 exercises ready to assign
The GuitarHarmony library holds 30 official exercises, from the pentatonic over an A blues to the tritone substitution of G7. Assign them as they are, or copy one to your own library and adapt the instructions to the student in front of you. Your own exercises start in any tool: set up a scale or a chart, then add it to your library.
The exercise opens in the tool, already set up
No more screenshots of chord boxes sent by text. When a student opens the exercise, the tool loads with your settings: the minor pentatonic in A, position 1 at the 5th fret, the chart Dm7, G7, Cmaj7, or DADGAD tuning. They play straight away instead of hunting for the right screen.
Homework with due dates and hand-in rules
Assign an exercise to a whole class or to a few chosen students, with a due date and a personal note. You decide what completes it: mark as done, a self-rating from 1 to 5, a target tempo reached, a written comment or a quiz score. The assignment is frozen when you give it, and a student who joins the class later still receives the ones that are not yet due.
Quizzes that grade themselves
Build quizzes from nine question types: multiple choice, true or false, name this chord, place notes on the neck, which scale fits these chords, complete the progression, key signature and relative, tritone substitution, target notes. A generator writes correct questions from a key and a theme, and you edit them afterwards. Grading happens on the server: students get the questions without the answers.
Progress at a glance
The dashboard counts your students, late assignments and assignments finished in the last 7 days. For each assignment you see who has finished and who is late, each student's best quiz score and number of attempts, their self-rating and the tempo they reached. You know what to work on next lesson before you open the case.
Up and running in four steps
- Turn on the teacher space. From your free account, open the teacher space and fill in your profile: school or studio, levels you teach, styles, a short bio. It takes about a minute, and your first class is created along the way, code included.
- Share the code. Send the code or the invite link by message, or let GuitarHarmony e-mail the invitations. Students create a free account if they don't have one, enter the code and land in your class.
- Assign an exercise. Pick an exercise, the class or the students, a due date (tomorrow, in 3 days, in a week or a date of your choice) and what completes the work. Add a note if you like, for example: aim for steady time, not speed.
- Follow up and adjust. Each assignment moves from to do to in progress to done, or shows as late once the due date has passed. You spot the student stuck on the Dm7 to G7 change and build the next lesson around it.
A library of 30 official exercises
Every exercise is sorted by family (Play, Recognise, Build), level and style, with a suggested length. Playing exercises can carry a progressive tempo: a start tempo, a target tempo and a step. Copy an official exercise to edit it, or create your own from a tool, as a free exercise with links (video, image, PDF), or as a quiz.
- Scales and the neck: A minor pentatonic over a blues, C major on a blank fretboard
- Chords and triads: open chords, inversions of C major and E minor
- Progressions and the circle: I-V-vi-IV, ii-V-I, blues in A, key signatures around G
- Tunings and ukulele: DADGAD, Open G riffs, C, Am, F and G on ukulele
- Solos and reharmonization: target notes over ii-V-I, an 8-bar solo, subbing G7
- Rhythm and quizzes: down-up eighth notes with the metronome, 6 auto-graded quizzes
For students: simple and free
Students find their homework in their student space, with your instructions, your note and the due date. They work in tools they already know, then hand in their work in a few clicks: self-rating, tempo reached, comment or quiz, depending on what you asked for.
- They join with the code or the link, on a computer, tablet or phone.
- Their access to the tools doesn't change: free students keep the free tools, Premium students keep everything.
- They see their score as soon as they send a quiz, and the right answers once their attempts are used up.
- You see their name and e-mail; other students see none of their data.
Free for you and your students
The teacher space, classes, library, homework and quizzes cost nothing. Premium only matters for Premium tools: if you assign an exercise in the solo builder or the chord substitutions tool, the student needs Premium (4.90 € a month or 39 € a year) or the matching one-off module (6.90 €, lifetime). Everything else works with a free account. Plans are compared on the pricing page.
Questions from teachers
Is the teacher space really free?
Yes. Turning on the space, creating classes, inviting students, using the library, assigning homework and building quizzes are all free. Only Premium tools need Premium, for you and for your students.
Do my students have to pay anything?
No, a free account is enough to join a class and hand in homework. Just check which tool an exercise uses before you assign it: most official exercises run in free tools, but those in the solo builder or the substitutions tool need Premium or the one-off module.
Can I create my own exercises?
Yes, in three ways: from a tool (set up the scale, chart or solo, then add it to your library), as a free exercise with instructions and links to a video, an image or a PDF, or as a quiz. Instructions support bold, lists and links.
How are quizzes graded?
Automatically, on the server: students receive the questions without the answers, and their score shows as soon as they send. You set the pass mark, random order and attempts (one only, or as many as they like). You see each student's best score and number of attempts.
I teach one-to-one. Does it work for me?
Yes. Tick one-to-one lesson when you create the class: only one student can join it, and you assign homework exactly as you would to a group. Inside a group class you can also assign an exercise to a single student.
What if my class code has spread too far?
Generate a new code: the old code and its link stop working, and students already enrolled stay in the class. You can also remove a student from a class without touching their GuitarHarmony account.
Your next lesson starts before the lesson.
Turn on the teacher space, share a code and assign a first exercise tonight. No card needed, for you or for your students.
